Shabby and Chic?

So, I have been thinking alot this week about "shabby chic" as it is called these days, I'm not sure about it really, I would welcome opinions on it...

Is it "Girly and Flowery"?

Is it "Vintage Style"?
Is "Shabby Chic" also "Country Home"?
Is "Shabby Chic" also"French Country Style"?

Is it "French Blue"?
Is there a definitive answer or is "Shabby Chic" whatever you want it to be?

Furniture Show 2010

Today we popped along the M62 to Manchester and to the Manchester Furniture Show, a trade only show which showcases the newest and most fabulous of all things furniture on the current market.A few of the people I saw and liked were;

Wilde Java who had a selection of awesome Buddha's and other cool items at very reasonable prices.

Another I liked the look of were David Stuart Designs who had the most gorgeous Diamante Studded Bed and other diamante studded items which appeal to my glitter and sparkle fetish!

I also liked Fusion Designs who had the most lush chair in their setup as well as some fantastic stylish and completely different furniture such as this cabinet.

And, as always FEBland had the best setup, with their stylish furniture in snazzy colours and too many mirrors, how do people walk past somewhere with that many mirrors without looking? Hard to choose a favourite but I actually fell in love with this when I visited their showroom recently for some chairs for O2.I couldn't possibly list all of the fantastic stuff we saw today, you will just have to contact me and tell me which room we are going to start with (believe me, with prices like these you will be able to afford to do more rooms than you thought!)

Mad Monday

Hello there, did you think I had forgotten about you? Sorry about that! A few health problems now sorted out and we are on our way again (hopefully)

I have thought and thought about this blog, and read other peoples blogs and came up with nothing, nothing at all. So, another little change to the style, tell me if you like it or not eh?

I am going to start a new feature for Mondays called "Mad Mondays" this will showcase all the crazy bonkers things I come across in my day to day life doing peoples interiors.

Today's is this crazy cow couch;Rodolfo Rocchetti from Tappezzeria Rocchetti is a master upholsterer from Rome, and he has made some really creative pieces of furniture, he also made a lion couch, and a bear couch too! (All fake fur for the animal lovers among you, no smiley cows were harmed in making this couch!)

For something a little less crazy send me your couch/sofa wishes here

Are you late for a very important date?

Everything stops for tea, or so they say. England loves their tea, so when the Mad Hatter asks if we want to go to the tea party, we will have no choice but to say yes!

So, here are a few teapots to be going on with, you need to make a choice or else you will be late!

This gorgeous one from Laura Ashley?
This Mad Hatter's Tea Party one suits the theme from Big Tomato Company

This red spotty one from Hunky Dory Home?
The amazing strawberries one from Cath Kidston?
Or the crazy cupcake one from Debenhams? You decide!
Our new style of blogging will include 5 types of each style item, as always you can contact us via our website, for price enquiries, product sourcing and anything else interior design related.

With Spring officially here, it's time to brighten up your home to match the bright sunny days outside. An easy instant update is to throw in some bold colours into any room.

Toile de Jouy Wallpaper

I spoke to someone about Toile wallpaper at a Christening recently.

Toile de Jouy entered the English language around the 16th Century from the French for "linen or cloth" or "canvas"

As you can see the pattern consists of a predominantly white (or off white) background in which a complex pattern is repeated. This pattern is usually made up of one single colour, usually black, red or blue, although other colours are sometimes found.

This blog concentrates on wallpaper for that romantic look to go with the French style beds in our previous blog.
